In a rivalry game featuring relentless offense, dramatic momentum swings, and clutch late-inning heroics, the Montebello Angels outlasted the OC Snappers 18–13 in the 45+ National championship — a back-and-forth battle that kept fans on edge until the final out.
The Angels struck first with six runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Snappers answered with three in the top of the third, signaling a fight for nine innings. From the fifth through eighth, the Angels pushed across 12 more runs while building a cushion. The Snappers countered with 10 runs between the seventh and ninth, never conceding.
The pivotal blow came in the bottom of the seventh. With a 10–9 lead, two outs, and two runners on base, Marcos Perez delivered a bases-clearing triple to blow the game open. Brandon Hedding, Ivan Valencia, and Ruben Hernandez followed with timely hits to push the margin beyond reach.
Bobby Yanez handled the first 4⅓ innings, and Tony Cabrera closed out 4⅔ frames. Luis Lira and Yosjan Brizuelas had each thrown complete games earlier in the week. Offensively, Frank Rodriguez, Sergio Alvarado, Eric Orue, Frank Medrano, and Louie Gonzalez all contributed. Key defensive catches by Perez and Adolfo Sanchez ended potential Snapper rallies. The Angels finished the week at 6–1 despite pitching limitations throughout.
